Reading:

Our story for the week is The Dinosaur Who Lived in My Backyard.  It is a fictitious tale.  Ask your child the difference between expository and fiction...they should be able to tell you!!  We will be testing for this week’s story on Friday.  Our 4 vocabulary words for this story are:

hatched, neighborhood, swamp, rescue

Spelling:

Our test will be on Friday this week.  This week’s words highlight words with the /ch/ sound from our chipmunk card spelled “ch” and “tch”, and words with the /th/ sound.  The additional 5 challenge words are difficult, so students will need to study!!Our 15 spelling words for the week are:

chick, choke, thick peach, teach, thin, there, they, hatched, mother, dinosaur, vegetables, backyard, rescue, swamp

Our spelling scores continue to be strong, so keep up the great job, Trailblazers!!

 Teacher’s Corner:

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are continuing with our unit on Fossils.  There were several students who brought some amazing artifacts and items to share last Friday.  We will again share our fossil-related items on Fridays, so they are welcome to bring them on that day.  Students may also bring newspaper clippings, pictures, and stories about fossils for our Concept/Question Board.

Feel free to contact me with regard to any questions or concerns you may have.
