The Twin Falls School District is excited to announce that Jorge Pulleiro has been selected as the new principal for the Dual Immersion program. The decision was approved at the March 3, 2025, School Board Meeting. Pulleiro brings extensive experience in bilingual education and leadership, along with a passion for providing students with high-quality language learning opportunities.
Pulleiro currently serves as associate principal at Twin Falls High School, a role he has held since 2021. Prior to that, he was a Spanish language arts teacher at Wood River Middle School from 2012 to 2021. His career in education began in 1991 as an English teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina, followed by roles as a Spanish instructor and district supervisor at the LDS Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1999 to 2005 as a human resources director before returning to education as a Spanish teacher in Oregon.
A highly decorated educator, Pulleiro was named the 2021 Idaho Teacher of the Year and has received numerous accolades, including recognition from the White House Department of Defense and a Fulbright Teacher Exchange placement in Mexico. He holds degrees from Brigham Young University, Eastern Oregon University, and Boise State University.
The Dual Immersion program, which offers students the opportunity to become fluent in both English and Spanish, is a unique educational experience that fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural understanding. Students enrolled in the program receive instruction in both languages, preparing them to thrive in an increasingly global society.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the program, the Dual Immersion program will move to Bickel Elementary School starting in the 2025-26 school year. This transition will allow for continued growth and dedicated resources to support students and staff. Additionally, the move will establish the program as a true magnet program, meaning it will accept applicants from across the district, providing more families with the opportunity to enroll their children in this unique bilingual learning experience.
To welcome Pulleiro and provide families with important updates, the district will host a Dual Immersion Meet & Greet:
When: March 11, 6 p.m.
Where: Oregon Trail Elementary School Cafeteria
What: Meet the new principal, ask questions about the transition, and enjoy dinner with fellow Dual Immersion families.
Additionally, families interested in enrolling their incoming kindergarten students in the Dual Immersion program for the upcoming school year are encouraged to learn more about this unique opportunity. The program is open to all students, and no prior Spanish language experience is required. However, the goal is to fill the program with half native English-speaking students and half native Spanish-speaking students. Enrollment details and deadlines will be shared in the coming weeks.
