Taste Testing during FUNctional Friday! Started with a read aloud to learn about taste buds, then learned our key vocabulary words: sweet, salty, bitter, sour. We had 19 CRHS student helpers who partnered with each Oregon Trail student to taste test a marshmallow, a cracker, and broccoli floret, and a lemon piece. Everyone practiced the vocabulary in a sentence and then we compared foods like green/red apples, sour/sweet candy, dark/milk chocolate, and sweet/dill pickles.

Week 31 continued with ISAT testing for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Despite the busy schedule, our morning meetings remained a strong and positive start to each day—featuring some of our amazing second graders practicing new skills!
We also kicked off our ABC Countdown on Thursday, adding even more excitement to the end of our year. One of our favorite highlights was Family Night, where so many wonderful families joined us for fun art projects inspired by The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It was a great time filled with creativity, connection, and community!

Our B Day of the ABC Countdown continued in Mrs. Boyle’s class with bubbles! 🫧 What a fun way to start the morning—full of smiles and excitement! A huge thank you to one of our amazing Oregon Trail families for providing a class set of bubbles for our students to enjoy!

Congratulations to Ms. Oberg! 🎉 Last night at the Red Apple Gala, she was honored as Playmaker of the Year. We are so fortunate to have her as part of Oregon Trail—what a well-deserved recognition!

Ms. Oberg’s class kicked off our ABC Countdown yesterday with A for Art 🎨✨
Our students started things off with a fun and creative art project, and just look at these sweet faces! We are so excited to continue the countdown with more learning, laughter, and memories along the way. 💛
Stay tuned for what B brings!

Congrats, Ms. Strom's class! They were the tenth correct reply for our "What's This Song?!?" Wednesday Award. They could not be tricked and were able to immediately hear our answer was a rock cover of "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters performed by the band Artificial Fear featuring vocalist Anthony Vincent. Way to go!

We can't wait to see you tomorrow! :)

Week 30 was one to remember! Our incredible custodian, Yeoman, spent time with 5th graders teaching them how to play Phase 10, creating fun and connection along the way. In Ms. Denny’s class, students got creative by designing masks that perfectly fit their faces. With the sunshine finally here, students enjoyed time outside while continuing to prepare for our upcoming Engage in Education Night.
Our 4th graders kicked off ISAT season with an exciting Glow Party, bringing energy and positivity to testing season! South Hills Middle School counselors also visited our 5th graders, helping ease nerves about middle school while sharing information about electives and what to expect next year.
Our coin challenge is still going strong, with students excitedly competing and showing school spirit as they work toward their grade-level goals!
To top it all off, one of our 5th graders celebrated a big win—passing his multiples test! Even better, his braces are off, and he’s ready to celebrate with gumballs! 🍬

Peanut butter & jelly for FUNctional Friday today! Thank you to our Canyon Ridge High School student helpers today. A language rich and fine motor activity to make and cut PB&J sandwiches.

Mrs. Ferrara's class kicked off state testing with a glow party! Class work is much more fun when it glows!

Congrats, Ms. Ferrara's class for being the fourth correct response to our "What's This Song?!?" Wednesday Award game. This is their second time this year! This week's song was "Happy" performed by Pharrell Williams
